Macák Author-Workplace-Name: Czech University of Life Sciences, Prague, Czech Republic Title: Determination of management capacity Abstract: This paper deals with the creation of a procedure to make it possible to evaluate the adequacy of the span of control (number of immediate subordinate staff). The maximum span of control depends on the complexity of the coordinating mechanism. In developing this procedure, information theory (more precisely - law of necessary variety) will be used. This paper contains a brief review of information theory and of the conventional approach, before moving on to the application part, to develop a method of determining the optimum for the managers' span of control. Tichá Author-Workplace-Name: Czech University of Life Sciences, Prague, Czech Republic Title: Intellectual capital reporting Abstract: The changing context within which businesses today compete requires deployment of intangible assets in order to achieve competitive position on the market. The growing importance of intellectual capital has been challenging the traditional financial reporting system, which is not capable to meet the information needs any more. The article provides an overview of various intellectual capital reporting systems and highlights their key concerns. The selected list of intellectual capital reporting practices serves as an information basis for business leaders to raise the awareness, to consider pros and cons of intellectual capital reporting and to facilitate a broader acceptance of a new reporting practice. Jeníček Author-Workplace-Name: University of Economics, Prague, Czech Republic Title: Global problems of the world - structure, urgency Abstract: Global problems are very different. The division of global problems into three big groups: Inter-social global problems usually included the problems like the problem of diverting world wars, nuclear, eventually other conflicts connected to the problematic of armament (the problem of war and peace). At present, there gains in importance also the fight towards terrorism. The problem of the social and economic backwardness of developing countries, eventually the whole North-South relationship also belong there, as well as the problem of solving global debts, the relationship of the indebted and creditors. The problem of the international relationships (namely economic) changes under the new conditions formed namely by the scientific and technological progress. Into the second group of natural-social global problems, there are most often included the following problems: environmental problem, raw material and energy problem, population problem, food, respectively nutrition problem. Lastly, the third group of anthropo-social problems includes the general human problems of the social, cultural and humanitarian-ethical nature. Sometimes, they are ranked as one great complex problem (so-called problem of the future of man), sometimes this group is divided into a number (10-15) of partial "sub-global" problems the common denominator of which are the shortcomings of the development of man in the relationship to the life and social conditions created by himself. Here belong different kinds of the unequal approach to education, health care, housing, culture, human rights, eventually also serious defects in their securing or a disharmonic and uncontrolled development (e.g. accelerated urbanisation) etc. Keywords: global problems, intersocial global problems, natural-social problems, anthropo-social problems Journal: Agricultural Economics Pages: 63-70 Volume: 54 Issue: 2 Year: 2008 DOI: 10.17221/269-AGRICECON File-URL: http://agricecon.agriculturejournals.cz/doi/10.17221/269-AGRICECON.html File-Format: text/html X-File-Ref: http://agriculturejournals.cz/RePEc/caa/references/age-200802-0003.txt Handle: RePEc:caa:jnlage:v:54:y:2008:i:2:id:269-AGRICECON Template-Type: ReDIF-Article 1.0 Author-Name: L. Monitoring of this factor is of concern namely in rural areas where disfavourable demographic situation may occur. Leaving this problem unsolved would constitute depopulation of certain endangered regions. The paper is focused on analysis of human resources' condition and development granding groups of settlements by size. The analysis is aimed at the determination of the type of market structure in the chain based on the derived theoretical model and fitted reduced model of price transmission in the form of VECM. Then, impulse-response analysis and decomposition of variance of fitted VECM show the system's reaction to innovations and the interaction between variables for longer forecast horizons. The results imply that processing stage may exercise oligopsonic power, i.e. the market structure has the type of oligopsony. Impulse-response analysis shows that the system approaches relatively fast the equilibrium and all responses are positive. Moreover, decomposition of variance informs about the increasing role of the wholesale price in the explanation of forecast error variance of agricultural price. Then, it follows from the obtained results (among other) that the pork meat agri-food chain may be characterised as demand-driven. The type of market structure implies that the agricultural support is in this case shared within the vertically related markets and thus is less efficient. It analyses the current situation and defines key problems that emerge from the insufficient legislative adjustments in the area of tourism entrepreneurship regulated by the Act 159/1999 of the Collection that concerns some conditions of tourism business, as well as by the amendment of this law from year 2006. The ambiguous interpretation of the law concerning the conditions of entrepreneurship in tourism area and other facts that emerge from this, such as the rise of asymmetrical information, untransparency of the market as well as the insufficient protection of the consumer-client of travel agencies - all these issues represent key problems of the contemporary practice that this paper intends to react to and it also aims to suggest a potential solution to them. The theory of strategic alliances and the theory of signalling behaviour are used as a methodological basis for solving the problems mentioned above.
