Abstract: The purpose of this study is to investigate the significance of different characteristics and competencies possessed by agricultural workers on the basis of assessment through agricultural managers in the German state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Bivariate analysis should uncover relationships between farm attributes and the respective requirement profile. Using the elicitation technique approach, an open question was submitted to farms. Respondents were asked to name the important characteristics concerning agricultural workers. Frequency and order of mentions were used to identify the relevant characteristics. Specialised knowledge was seen as the most important characteristic of an employee, followed by the general interest in the vocation. A dominance of generic attributes was observed. There was a statistically significant positive relationship between the farm acreage and the importance of vocational characteristics. The more distinctive division of labour and specialisation in more large-scale farms can be seen as the reason for this occurrence. The authors of this paper analyze the current structure of agricultural workers, their views, opinions and attitudes toward their work, as well as the perception of agriculture by the public. The research was carried out on a sample of 202 family farms. The analysis showed that the chances to remain as integral production units in the next generation are realistic for only 48% of family farms. The traditional pattern of behavior is obvious with regard to inheritance and to postponing the transfer of management and control of the farm resources. The majority of the Slavonian farmers find that it would be proper if the state were to introduce special measures to regulate the integrity of the land and to offer subsidies and easements for the "entry" of the young into the agriculture. One of the alternatives of using this potential is to develop tourism in those municipalities, which have appropriate conditions for the development of activities connected to tourism at their disposal. The aim of this paper is to identify the development potential of rural municipalities in the light of tourism (in the area of the Nitra Self-governing Region), to evaluate this potential using the valorisation method and to define the individual categories of rural municipalities. The results of the typology provide important information about the potential of the rural areas for the development of tourism and about the current utilization of this potential. They are also used to create the concept of the development of rural tourism in the Nitra Self-governing Region and to represent a tool for effectively allocated public resources for municipalities and for entrepreneurial subjects in the municipalities. The results indicate that the individuals who utilise more often the nutritional labels follow healthier eating habits, such as avoiding snacking between meals, a lower intake of salt and avoiding the fat intake. According the factors explaining the label use, the health knowledge, the bad health status and being aware of the diet-health relation are found significant. Age and household size are the socio-demographic variables which also affect the nutritional label use and eating habits. Findings provide more evidence on the consumers' underlying motivations to pay attention to nutritional labelling, which allows evaluating the impact of the implementation of the Regulation EC 1924/2006 of the European Parliament and the Council of 20 December 2006 on nutritional and health claims made on foods (Regulation EC 1924/2006). In addition, empirical results could help the local policy makers to establish appropriate market strategies to increase healthy eating habits by promoting the nutritional label use by consumers.
