It is also a 'great place to work' for the existing employees. The article therefore focuses on the approaches to implementing the strategic talent management which are taken by the agricultural and forestry companies. The paper investigates the position taken regarding the talent management in theory. It is based on the aims of a primary survey, the purpose of which was to develop a deeper understanding of the supporting theoretical concepts underpinning the company approaches to talent. The objective of the work is to identify the main components of the strategic talent management based on the primary survey of companies operating in agriculture and forestry. This is accomplished by evaluating the data obtained from the primary analysis of the methods and approaches used on 101 farms and other agricultural companies. The data comes from the manager surveys for which a single manager represented the given company. The mono-dimensional and multi-dimensional statistics were used to evaluate the data. The results indicate that in 62% of the companies examined are familiar with the principles of the talent management and that the talent management forms part of the mission of the company (48%). A deeper analysis is used to further examine the differences in the approach of the companies included in the study. The paper contains an in depth discussion of the concept of the strategic talent management, as well as identifying the main processes connected with it. Moreover, the paper presents new research findings by defining and validating the main attributes of the strategic talent management (TM); additionally the gap between the awareness of the top management of the talent management concept and its use in practice is found and discussed. Agriculture is traditionally highly weather sensitive. While the catastrophic impact of weather has been long recognized, studied and managed the non-catastrophic weather risk gains in importance as the climate change becomes more pronounced. Weather derivatives provide a flexible management solution for the non-catastrophic weather risk. The paper presents weather derivatives as a new weather risk management tool and reviews and discusses the effectiveness of their application in agriculture Keywords: agriculture, hedging effectiveness, non-catastrophic weather risk, weather derivatives Journal: Agricultural Economics Pages: 356-362 Volume: 62 Issue: 8 Year: 2016 DOI: 10.17221/188/2015-AGRICECON File-URL: http://agricecon.agriculturejournals.cz/doi/10.17221/188/2015-AGRICECON.html File-Format: text/html X-File-Ref: http://agriculturejournals.cz/RePEc/caa/references/age-201608-0002.txt Handle: RePEc:caa:jnlage:v:62:y:2016:i:8:id:188-2015-AGRICECON Template-Type: ReDIF-Article 1.0 Author-Name: Danuse NERUDOVA Author-Workplace-Name: Department of Accounting and Taxation, Faculty of Business and Economics, Mendel University in Brno, Brno, Czech Republic Author-Name: Katerina KRCHNIVA Author-Workplace-Name: Department of Accounting and Taxation, Faculty of Business and Economics, Mendel University in Brno, Brno, Czech Republic Title: Tax sharing under the Common Consolidated Corporate Tax Base: Measurement of the profit generating factors in the agriculture sector Abstract: The allocation formula for the distribution of the Common Consolidated Corporate Tax Base (CCCTB) should be based on three macroeconomics factors which are considered to have the largest impact on profitability. The paper researches the ability of the allocation formula factors to explain variability in profit/loss generation of single enterprises from the perspective of the Czech Republic with the special focus on the explanation power of the allocation formula on profit/loss generation of companies operating in the agriculture sector (NACE A). The analysis is based on the comparison of the coefficients of determination as an indicator of the explained variability of the proposed simple as well as the multiple regression models. The paper concludes that proportion of explained profitability by the formula factors as are defined by the Draft Directive on a Common Consolidated Corporate Tax Base can differ by more than 30% with regard to the sector of economic activity classified by the NACE, whereas in the individual subsectors of the agriculture the difference may amount to 40%. Hence, there were conducted the CE surveys with three treatments: (1) CV without a cognitive task, (2) CV with a CT script, and (3) CV with a HO. The findings showed that the effectiveness of the HO script depends on the participants' socio-demographic characteristics. For instance, it was found that the HO script could help to reduce the hypothetical bias for people who possess a high educational level in contrast with those people with low education and low income. Hence, the findings suggest that the oath script not only does not a guarantee the reduction of the hypothetical bias, but it also does not explain the mixed results found in the previous studies. The data encompassed 34 632 cow records from the Czech Republic 12 regions and were collected during a 1-yr period (2012). The milk yield during the production period was analysed relative to the reproduction and economic parameters. The main reasons for culling cows were fertility problems and movement disorders, followed by the low milk yield, mammary gland diseases, and postpartum complications. The analysis of fertility showed that the herds with the longest calving intervals (≥ 410 d) and the highest culling due to fertility (≥ 25% of the total) achieved the lowest milk yields. The average difference between the highest and lowest calving interval (≤ 389 d) groups was 721 kg/cow per yr. The lowest reported profitability of costs was for the longest calving interval and the highest postpartum complications groups. Although the reproductive performance directly affects the dairy farm profitability, the dairy cows' production potential should be considered when making culling decisions in order to achieve the most profitable management strategy.
