One of the postulated causes of these clinical signs is the insertional desmopathy of the nuchal ligament. Its aetiology still remains unclear, chiefly due to the limitations associated with providing correct diagnoses in this region and the correct identification of the abnormalities. These lesions may be conductive to limb lameness, dental diseases and neurological changes. Considering that the resulting irreversible pathological changes present as pain and stiffness, patients are usually treated symptomatically. Insertional desmopathies of the nuchal ligament may underlie a lack of progress in training as well as stiffness and limb lameness in their broader sense. Further research is necessary to determine which lesions observed in the radiological examinations are of clinical significance. Also, the correlations among rumen pH value and the compositions of MUN and MFA in milk were determined. Dairy cows (n = 16) with subacute ruminal acidosis (SARA) (pH value 5.60 ± 0.02) and control dairy cows (n = 16) (control) (pH value 6.20 ± 0.04) were studied. The MUN concentrations (578 µg/l) of the dairy cows with SARA was lower than those (1 315 µg/l) of the control dairy cows (P < 0.001). In the milk of the dairy cows with SARA, the unsaturated fatty acids (UFA), thrombogenic index (TI), and hypocholesterolemic fatty acid index (hcFA) decreased; but the saturated fatty acids (SFA), atherogenic (AI) and hypercholesterolemic fatty acid (HcFA) indexes (P < 0.01) increased. The rumen pH value and the concentration of the MUN were positively correlated with the proportions of the monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA), polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), omega-3 fatty acids (n-3), omega-6 fatty acids (n-6), omega-9 fatty acids (n-9), long-chain fatty acids (LCFA) and very-long-chain fatty acids (VLCFA) and the n-3/n-6 ratio of the milk samples (P < 0.05). Consequently, the dairy cow with SARA that are in early-lactation can affect the carbohydrate fermentation, fatty acid hydrogenation and protein degradation. The MUN concentration in the dairy cows with SARA seriously decreased. The SARA changes the milk fatty acid composition and decreases the MUFA, PUFA, n-3, oleic acid and hypocholesterolemic fatty acids and the hypocholesterolemic/hypercholesterolemic ratio (h/H) values of milk. Therefore, the nutritional and functional quality for human nutrition decreases in the milk of dairy cows with SARA. After acclimatisation to laboratory conditions at a temperature of 27.8 ± 1.0 °C, the fish (n = 28) were transferred to 16.8 ± 1.0 °C water (group T2; temperature difference Δ -11 °C); the rest of the fish were kept at the original water temperature (group T1). The examination of individual fish was made after 6, 12, 24 and 48 hours (h). The impact on the haematological and biochemical indices was evaluated. Furthermore, the effect on the food content passage speed was investigated and a histopathological examination was performed. The changed haematological indices in the T2 group returned to the T1 values 48 h after a temperature decrease, except for the neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio which was found to be higher in all the T2 samplings. Most of the monitored biochemical indices decreased in the T2 group and some of them remained that way at 48 hours. On the contrary, the liver enzymes increased in the T2 group at 48 hours. The passage of food through the digestive tract was mostly finished after 48 h for both groups. However, in the warmer water, the intestine was empty in 71.4% cases after 24 h already, while in the T2 group, the food content passage was only completed in 14.3% of the fish at the same time. Local gill and skin necrosis, and mononuclear cell infiltration were found in the T2 group. A sudden change in the temperature can affect various parameters of the common carp, however, these changes can mostly be eliminated within 48 hours. The subject had regular oestrous cycles, but gestation loss was reported in the anamnesis. The ovarian mass was monitored by transrectal palpation and ultrasonography. In the differential diagnosis, an ovarian haematoma, a haemorrhagic anovulatory follicle and a granulosa cell tumour were hypothesised; a surgical resolution with laparoscopic access was chosen. During surgery, about 750 ml of haemorrhagic fluid was drained, confirming the suspect of the ovarian haematoma. After resolution, the jenny was inseminated, eventually giving birth to a live and viable foal. Usually, an ovarian haematoma spontaneously regresses, but, in this report, the lesion remained stable for more than two months, leading to the decision of the surgical resolution. Furthermore, to the authors' knowledge, this lesion has never been reported in donkeys. On the ultrasonography, an irregularly shaped, cystic, intraluminal urinary bladder mass was identified at the left ureterovesical junction. The computed tomographic excretory urography and magnetic resonance imaging revealed a pouch-like cystic mass arising from the distal ureter embedded at the ureterovesical junction. The distal portion of the mass prolapsed into the proximal urethra and obstructed the urethral lumen. The multimodal imaging findings were consistent with a prolapsed ureterocele and were further confirmed with surgery and histopathology. After surgical removal of the mass, the clinical signs clearly improved. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of multimodal imaging characteristics and the outcome of a prolapsed ureterocele in a dog. To our knowledge, so far mast cell tumour metastases have only been described in local lymph nodes. An African hedgehog was referred to the veterinary clinic. A nodule was located on the right part of the mandible. Based on the clinical trial, an abscess was suspected. Surgery was performed, but a histopathological examination was not undertaken. After few months, tumour recurrence was detected and, additionally, a second tumour was found on the metatarsal skin. Due to the deteriorating clinical condition of the patient, euthanasia was decided, and a post-mortem examination was performed. During the post-mortem examination, a spleen tumour was detected, and, furthermore, mesenteric lymph nodes, liver and lung sections were also collected. The histopathological examination confirmed mast cell tumour metastasis to the spleen and lymph nodes, additionally single mast cells were found in the liver. Interestingly, the histological picture of the tumour does not show high malignancy. To our knowledge, this is the first description of a mast cell tumour with metastases to the spleen and lymph in the African hedgehog.
