Haemolytic products arising in chronic hemophthalmos cause cellular infiltration, necrosis of the vitreous structure, and fibrous membrane formation. In this process, retinal pigment epithelium plays an important role for its antioxidant properties and the capability to phagocyte the decay products.Keywords:
